Dear Church Family,
First, on a personal note, Levi Turner Hill was born on March 11th at 10:01 a.m. He was 9 pounds and 1 ounce and 21 ¼ inches long. We were able to bring him home the next day around 1:00 p.m. Alli is feeling well and to no one’s surprise received comments from many different nurses that she didn’t look like she had just had a baby. God has been so good and so kind to us in blessing us with this little boy. We are thankful for your prayers and for the joy of having you share in our excitement.
Second, you’ll notice something new in this newsletter. In addition to the monthly birthdays, we are beginning a weekly rotation of our members who are unable to attend due to health reasons. We will work through our membership alphabetically and group couples or families together where applicable. Given our current membership, this means we will cycle through this list about twice a year.
That explains what this list is, but let me also explain what I am asking you to do with this list. As many of you already do with the birthday list and around the holidays, I would like you intentionally seek to encourage the member(s) listed for that given week however you see fit. This would be a great time to send them a note, give them a call, pay them a visit, take them a meal, etc. The point is to show these members the love of Christ as you let them know how much we care for them.
Now, this is in no way to say that only our members who are unable to attend due to health reasons deserve this kind of treatment. Certainly not. We want all of our members to know this kind of care. However, there are also unique difficulties that come with being willing to gather together with the church spiritually, but unable to gather physically. That is to say, though they can’t come to us, we want to make a concerted effort to go to them. Again, many of you are already doing member outreach like this on your own, but by doing this together, we want to overwhelm these members with our love for them. We want them to know that we have not forgotten them. We want to remind them through our presence of the breath-taking reality that God is always with them. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to let me know.
Third, we are just about ready to formally begin adopting the families of the regularly attending Wednesday night children. A few of you have already begun forming these relationships and others have expressed interest in being involved. For the rest you, if you would like to be placed with a family, please let me know as soon as possible. Remember, there are limitless ways for you to be involved in this outreach, so really I am asking all those who are interested in adopting a family to let me know. Once you express your interest, we can brainstorm together how your involvement might take shape for you specifically.
So, if you are interested in being a part of this ministry in some way, shape, or form, please let me know as soon as possible. Once I know which families are going to be engaged, I will begin reaching out to them to explain what we’re planning on doing and to ask for their permission. As always, if you have any questions, thoughts, or concerns, please let me know. Join me in praying that God would use this to save and bless people so that He gets the glory.
Fourth and finally, please make plans to join us next Sunday night (3/24) for our regular business/members’ meeting. Each member of our congregation has a role to play in our governance and therefore each member’s presence matters for this meeting. Also, if you would plan on bringing your directory with you we will have a time for updating member contact information. Please pray this would be one more opportunity for us to eagerly maintain the unity we have in the Spirit because of the blood of Christ. I look forward to seeing you then.
